When an input signal is slightly delayed and reintroduced it against the original input signal while simultaneously varying the pitch by a small amount, then a chorusing effect is produced. The combined signals give the effect of two instruments playing at once - a chorus of instruments, so to speak. Unfortunately, many chorus pedals have the tendency to cut low-end frequency, leaving a thin and clinical tone.
